Free FOOSA Concerts at Fresno State
Attend a series of casual, exciting concerts that showcase participants at Fresno’s international FOOSA Festival: Fresno Summer Orchestra Academy. Since 2013, the Youth Orchestras of Fresno, in partnership with the Fresno State College of Arts and Humanities, have been offering intensive orchestral study with renowned faculty to aspiring musicians from around the world.
These nightly concerts, held in the Concert Hall at Fresno State, are a chance for participants to show what they are learning, and a chance for the public to get a sense of what it takes to prepare for life as a professional musician.
Free! 7:30pm on these dates: Wednesday June 17; Thursday June 18; Friday June 19 (Concerto Competition Finals: exciting evening!); Saturday June 20 (Faculty Recital! Don’t miss!); Monday June 22; Tuesday June 23; Wednesday June 24.
Also, of course, we have a series of final concerts. The FOOSA Chamber Orchestra and Symphony programs present their final concert at the Fresno State Concert Hall at 7:00pm on Saturday June 27. Admission is free.
The FOOSA Philharmonic will present its final concert in Los Angeles at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on Friday June 26 at 8:00pm. Click here for information and tickets.

Makerfest on Broadway Presented by Fresno Ideaworks
Join Fresno Ideaworks for Makerfest on Broadway, a community fundraiser celebrating art, creativity, and hands-on making in the heart of downtown Fresno. Held at Fresno Ideaworks’ historic home in the former Crown Plunge building, Makerfest will feature local artists and makers, interactive maker stations, food and drinks, raffles, and a community art auction. Fresno Ideaworks is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit makerspace dedicated to providing affordable access to tools, workshops, and creative education in woodworking, welding, ceramics, textiles, glass arts, technology, and more.

Reyna Grande in Conversation with Bonnie Hearn Hill
Judging by the Cover: A Bookstore, in partnership with Maarte.Studios, is proud to welcome acclaimed Mexican-American author Reyna Grande to Fresno as part of her California independent bookstore tour celebrating the release of her latest memoir, Migrant Heart.
Grande is an award-winning author and memoirist renowned for her powerful storytelling about immigration, family separation, identity, and the pursuit of the American Dream. Born in Iguala, Guerrero, Mexico, she crossed the U.S.–Mexico border as an undocumented child at the age of nine. Her experiences have shaped a body of work that has resonated with readers across generations and communities.
During her Fresno appearance, Grande will be joined in conversation by local author Bonnie Hearn Hill. Together, they will discuss Migrant Heart, their respective writing processes, and the importance of elevating stories that illuminate the complexities of migration, resilience, and belonging.
This all-ages event is free and open to the public. Copies of Migrant Heart and other works by Reyna Grande will be available for purchase onsite in both English and Spanish. Doors open at 4 pm and the author conversation begins at 4:30 pm.
FOOSA Chamber and Symphony Final Concert
Students in the FOOSA Chamber Orchestra (some as young as 5) and those in the intermediate-level FOOSA Symphony will perform at their Final Concert on Saturday June 27 at the Fresno State Concert Hall beginning at 7:00pm. Free admission.

Peaks and Passions, Final FOOSA Concert
The FOOSA Philharmonic—an orchestra consisting of both faculty and students from the FOOSA Festival/Fresno Summer Orchestra Academy—will perform Richard Strauss’s epic Eine Alpensinfonie, a breathtaking musical depiction of a day in the Alps, from sunrise to storm to sunset. The program also features Béla Bartók’s dramatic suite from The Miraculous Mandarin, a thrilling score filled with mystery, passion, and raw orchestral power. Together, these masterpieces showcase the virtuosity, artistry, and passion of the next generation of orchestral musicians.

An Evening of Jazz in the Tower with Eva Scow & Benjamin Boone
Jazz saxophonist Benjamin Boone and mandolin virtuoso Eva Scow will be joined by jazz artists Craig VonBerg, Nate Guzman, and Pat Olvera to perform an unforgettable night of jazz at Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater. The show, a fundraiser for the Tower District Preservation Fund, will include no-host desserts, non-alcoholic drinks and raffle prizes.

Jazz pianist, composer, and arranger Rick Helzer will have the honor and pleasure of presenting selections from Duke Ellington’s three “Sacred Music Concerts,” which Ellington considered to be his most consequential works. With the “Sacred Music Concerts,” Ellington powerfully and beautifully expressed his faith in God through his gift of music. Rick will be presenting this moving music with four of his good friends and marvelous musicians:

Respite by the River
Take a break from the rush of everyday life and join Parkway for the 2026 season of Respite by the River! Bring your picnic dinner and a blanket or lawn chair to spend the evening relaxing at the River Center while you enjoy local artistry. August's Respite will feature music by Tip Jar and a reading by Steven Sanchez.
Respite by the River is a free event, but all proceeds and donations support Parkway's mission to protect and preserve the San Joaquin River Parkway.

The Fresno Musical Club celebrates its 120th year as it presents the Zephyr Saxophone Quartet in concert. Karen Marguth & Friends
San Francisco Bay Area vocalist Karen Marguth is one of the most acclaimed vocal artists to emerge in the 2000s. She has released six albums as a leader, three of which have been listed in DownBeat’s annual Best of the Year issue, and one of which received a rare four-and-a-half stars. Joining Karen will be Mike Taylor on guitar, Nathan Guzman on drums, David Aus on keys, and Clare Reinhold on bass.
Heritage Fresno’s “Saving the Past - The Legacy of the Caglia Family”
As part of Historic Preservation Month, Heritage Fresno will be presenting their film on preservation, “Saving the Past - The Legacy of the Caglia Family,” at Warnors Theatre on May 28.
The is a free event (with a suggested donation of $10) featuring an organ concert, a lobby tour, and the presentation of the film about the Caglia Family’s role in preserving Fresno’s history.

We Got The Beat Big Show
We Got the Beat is a fun, interactive, hands-on, musical experience for students in 1st to 12th grade from the greater Fresno/Clovis Metropolitan area. The Big Show is their culminating concert that showcases this amazing program.
Since 2000, the mission of WGTB has been to provide a comprehensive musical experience for children that enriches both the individual and the community. Our vision is to develop music appreciation, performance skills, and proficiency on diverse percussion instruments while providing life skills that will take children well beyond their WGTB experience. We promote creativity through improvisation and composition while teaching responsibility, cooperation, leadership, and teamwork through instrument care, practice, solo, and group performance.

California's Future is CREATIVE: A Presentation of the State's Creative Economy Strategic Plan
Join this presentation of California’s Creative Economy Strategic Plan from California for the Arts in person or online. This presentation will discuss the California Arts Council’s “California’s Future Is Creative: Strategies for Cultural Resilience, Economic Growth, and Global Leadership” strategic plan. This is California’s first sector-specific plan to bolster and grow $288 billion creative sectors and support its over 820,000 creative workers.
