Judging by the Cover: A Bookstore is bringing Fresno-area readers together for a special National Read a Book Day celebration on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at St. Dulce Fresno.

The event will unite several local silent reading and book clubs, including the Fresno Chapter Silent Book Club, Silent Book Club Clovis, Books, Beers, and Buddies, and Book Brew Crew. The free, all-ages gathering is open to anyone who loves books and wants to connect with fellow readers.

From 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., attendees can bring a book, settle in, and enjoy the simple pleasure of reading alongside other members of the Fresno-area book community.

As part of the event, Judging by the Cover, the folks behind the Fresno Bookstore Passport will create a special “Reader’s Guide to Fresno,” highlighting local book clubs, bookstores, and book-related vendors throughout the greater Fresno County area.

The gathering also showcases the growing popularity of the silent book club model. Unlike traditional book clubs, silent book clubs generally have no assigned reading. Instead, attendees bring whatever book they want to read, read together, and socialize before or afterward.

Whether you’re already part of a Fresno book club or simply looking for a new way to meet readers, this event offers an opportunity to unplug, discover local book communities, and spend an afternoon reading with others.
